1. Tell us about yourself and your most current project/s?
I’m Indy and I’m a 13 year old author and entrepreneur! One of my most recent projects is my self published graphic novel, “School Time”. This is my first book of the series and it is about these rabbits who go to school named Robby and Sally. However, I plan to make the next “School Time” books take place outside of the classroom!
2. Where did the inspiration/idea come for this project?
I had always loved reading comics and graphic novels whenever I got the chance. I originally came up with the very first draft for my book back in 2021. I used to always create little rabbit comic stories in my free time, but one day I decided that I was going to actually publish it.
3. What does the writing process look like for you?
My writing process is a mix of many different steps. I always start by coming up with ideas or scenarios for future books and eventually narrow it down to the idea I like best. I then start coming up with cover ideas that would draw the readers attention and help show what the book is about. The most fun and important part for me is when I get to write and draw the actual story, along with adding colors.
4. How do you handle writer’s block?
Writers block is quite common for me and it is not fun, at all. What I usually do is find something that motivates me. For example, I remind myself of a goal that I hope to accomplish in the near future. It helps to get my brain going and start writing again.
5. How do you feed your creativity when feeling drained?
When I feel that my creativity is drained, sometimes I like to look online for interesting ideas or artwork that inspires me. It helps me to be creative again and come up with fresh ideas.
6. What advice would you give writers who feel stuck or uninspired?
If you feel stuck or uninspired, I would recommend taking walks outside and looking around to find interesting things that inspire you. Another way you can get inspired is by picking up a new hobby or interest that you would want write about in a future book.
7. Have you ever thought about giving up writing? If so, what pulled you back?
I have never thought about giving up, but I have had some moments it felt challenging with publishing or coming up with ideas.
8. How do you keep your voice or ideas fresh over time?
I keep my ideas fresh by making stories inspired by my personal experiences or interests.
9. What do you wish more people understood about the creative process?
I want people to know that the creative process can be quite challenging, but to not let anyone put you down or give up.
Where can my audience find you and your work?
